Sulphur? What Sulphur?

Or better yet, why?
I'm not doing any length checks till I relax my hair in January which is about five months from now. I'm using this period to focus on growing back my edges, nape and the centre patch that's 6inches shorter than the rest of my hair. I would like to get MBL by July 2014 but as I'm still grazing shoulder length now (just about). I'm relying on supplements and growth aids to help my diet and exercise go the extra mile for my hair aspirations.

Many yonks ago, after reading all the reviews on LHCF, I bought a range of Tail Gator products including Mega Tek and Shapley's MTG oil. Did my hair grow? Yes. Was it full root to tip? Yes. Did I hit MBL? No. Why? I got lazy...and scared. I was using a combination of Tailgator and MTG in 2008 when I got a rash which my doctor diagnosed as pityriasis (looked as pitiful as it sounds), I told myself that sulphur was the cause and I haven't used a sulphur based product since. That is, until now.

I'm going to blame this new found sulphur curiosity on Jeni's sublime sulphur mix recipe.

Equally to blame is the popularity of Njoy's belief system and the recorded success of her sulphur mix.

Sulfur is essential in maintaining the structures of protein in our bodies, like keratin. - HHJ

The sulphur based growth aid I'm using this time is Liquid Gold Hair Growth Oil which Ebony C. Princess speaks of on her blog. I saw it at the Sizzelle store recently and thought I'd grow some kahunas, get over my sulphur fear and buy it. Liquid Gold Hair Growth Oil contains sublimed sulphur, not to be confused with MSM and I'm willing to give it a try because I hear the sulphur content isn't as high as MTG.

Sulfur will extend the length of your anagen phase (by months, years, etc), by speeding up (shorten the length of time of) the other stages (inactive follicles, shedding/release) to get you back to the anagen (active growth) phase. It is like the sulfur is directly feeding your dermal papilla to increase your growth potential. - Hair De La Creme
