From Ntozake Shange original stage play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/ When the Rainbow Is Enuf", starring Alfred Woodard, Lynn Whitfield, and Ntozake Shange.
It is a monolgue from the 1982 PBS production of Ntozake Shange's choreopoem For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf. There have been many versions of it since the original choreopoem came together in 1973 to date including Loretta Devine's interpretation (as Juanita in Tyler Perry's movie, For Colored Girls) below.
